Bonnie-

Several things to check for:

1. How old are the ink cartridges? They really only last about 6 months
whether you're using them or not. You may need to replace them. The way to
check if they are low or just old is to run teh Nozzle Check 0 this is found
under the Utility tab which is under teh printer setting dialog box. ( With
MacIntosh to find this utility I have to have SP 1200 selected as my printer-
it's sort of a long confusing thing to find .)

2. run the Cleaning Button a few times., This cleans the ink head nozzles
and can be really effective. It's the button located on the front of the
printer which has 4 little tear drop ink spots.

3. Is your ink setting set to colors or black and white?

Hope this helps.
