FYI, I've called FedEx to check on the status of my dispute regarding
duties
and taxes assessed on my artwork included in the GNSI exhibit. They are
telling me that all the customs documents I so carefully filled out and
had
validated at the customs office are of no consequence as far as this
charge is
concerned. Anything over $50 that is shipped is assessed duties and taxes
by
Portugal (according to FedEx), since there is no proof of what is being
done
with the shipment once it arrives at its destination. I was told that I
should
have contacted the agent in my area ahead of shipping the package in order
to
obtain bonding documentation showing my art would a temporary import into
Portugal.

While my dispute has not yet been denied, I'm told it could be 30-90 days
before they decide what to do with my request. (Sigh)
