i spent part of my childhood in new mexico, and when
we moved we were astonished at how many times we had
to say no, we weren't from mexico -- *new* mexico is
an actual real USofA state. i guess the legislators
got tired of explaining that too, since now the
license plates read "new mexico, USA". sigh.
