Thank you for this fascinating information. I didn't come on the scene  
until late 1989.
Trudy Nicholson called and informed me that this, 2009, will be the  
40th Annual Natural Science Illustration Exhibit. That has a nice  
solid ring to it, doesn't it.

In celebration we are inviting dignitaries, artists, et.al. from  
institutions in New Brunswick and Maine to the opening. There are  
several fine colleges, universities and art institutions in northern  
New England and the Maritimes, and it will be interesting to see who  
accepts our invitation.

In addition, our conference schedule will be published in the UMFK  
(University of Maine, Fort Kent) summer catalog. If you are thinking  
of coming to this conference it could be a great opportunity to  
present, and it certainly will be a good publicity opportunity. We do  
still have openings for member presenters. Watch the newsletter and  
website for updated information. Kapi and Barbara have been doing a  
knockout job gathering information.

We have three exhibits this year. There is the premier 40th Annual  
Natural Science Illustration Exhibit, and I hope you all consider  
submitting work to be juried for this show. The show will be in the  
Acadian Archives building on campus, an intimate gallery in a new  
facility. The exhibit is science oriented, of course, so it should be  
valuable on many levels.

We also have an open exhibit that we are calling the fine arts  
exhibit. It is not juried, but space is limited. Think small is more.  
More information on it later. Third, we have a publications exhibit.  
This one is for your publications, be they books or magazines. We will  
publish guidelines for that one, but it is really a simple matter of  
putting your book in a mailer with return postage. It will be  
displayed in the Blake Library on campus.

Do consider exhibiting in one, two, or all three shows. Help celebrate  
our 40th anniversary. joan
