Thank you all so much for your great suggestions! I love all of the different 
ideas - especially having them take apart a flower to see the parts (forgot how 
just the other day my daughter had a great time pulling a gerbera daisies petals 
off so that her plastic insects had a big pile to play in...) And the game of 
being a seed is a great idea. They would love that. An interactive presentation 
is definitely the key.

I will now be able to put something fun together that will hopefully entertain 
the kids and maybe even help them learn a little something. I will let you know 
how it goes!

In addition to all the wonderful suggestions already mentioned. I have plants 
here that 'do' something - carnivorous plants, sensitive plant (Mimosa pudica).

Three year olds are very bright, mainly sensorial, and love to move and have 
fun. : ) When I teach little ones about plants one of the games I play is to 
show them a seed, ask them if they can scrunch themselves up small like that 
seed, and then slowly, slowly, slowly stretch up and up, growing like a plant, 
reaching for the sun. Talk about how wonderful the sun is, how all plants are 
different, and how each one of them (the children) are beautiful and perfect 
just the way they are. : )
