There is also a wonderful public broadcasting documentary on Potter that was
shown here in Oregon a year or so ago, on Oregon Public Broadcasting. I belive
it was a two-part series, even... She had to hide the animals she made pets of
to draw from her parents, with whom she lived until quite "old" by our
standards. An interesting life!

Her discovery  and her efforts to announce her belief in the relationship that
forms lichens is one of the topics my spouse and I mention when leading bird
walks in areas with lichens.
