Hi everyone, I've been " a lurkin" way too long and apologize for not
contributing in the past. A number of us "GNSI" folk have recently
completed a wonderful project for the new Behring Family Hall of Mammals at
the Smithsonian. We collectively, in a very short amount of time whipped up
artwork to complete this exhibit, which opened Nov 15th. Unfortunately,
none of us really live close to D.C. and I wanted to encourage you "locals"
to run over and take a look and let us know what you think. The crew for
this project included Anne Ricciardi (murals-photoshop), Barb Cousins and
Chris Graalap (present day mammals-photoshop and illustrator), Laurie
O'Keefe (extinct mammals-photoshop and traditional wash), and Marlene
Donnelly ( wash panel of a large ancient African scene). This was a fast
and furious pace and I think we are still recovering...we should be "mended"
by next summer when some of us plan to present a talk on this project at the
Willimsburg meeting. I posted a few of the illustrations on the science-art
website recently, so you can get a glimpse of a few of the "critters".
Also, just to plug the science-art.com site, I recently was contacted to
complete a few zoo illustrations. The contact looked at this site
exclusively to find illustrators, and since I have never received "zoo" work
in the past, this opens up a new opportunity for me. Thanks BRITT for all
your hard work on this site! So, hey you guys, launch your artwork on the
site, it does attract clients! Bye for now, stay tuned for more news on the
presentation next summer.
