Greetings one and all!

I'm wearing my autocrat hat today.  Just in case you missed Moot last night
or couldn't hear me trying to project my voice with my sore throat, I'm
going to recap for you the brief discussion that was had regarding Cattle
Raids last night.

Cattle Raids will occur this year at the Stone Barn in Filly, NE on
September 22,23, and 24.  I'm currently looking for volunteers to be in
charge of certain areas that need supervising.  I have many folks already in
place and I appreciate their gracious assistance.

This year's Cattle Raids will be a celebration of Mag Mor's fifth year as a
barony.  We'll be focusing on the history and traditions of Mag Mor.  To do
this, we'll have lots of tourneys, competitions, shoots, activities,
designated areas of the site, and food items that are named for people or
groups that have been instrumental in making Mag Mor what it is today.  For
example, the roast pig for feast will be "Miklos' Mudhen", we may have a
fighter tourney called "The Brewers' Brawl", etc.  We'll also be putting
together a display that shows the history of Mag Mor so be looking for those
old photographs, pieces of garb, and relics from the past to share with our
friends and neighbors.  And be thinking about Mag Mor stories and songs that
you can entertain our guests with!

I will be hosting a meeting on July 12th at 7:30 right before Moot at the
Church for anyone who is helping or wants to help with Cattle Raids.  We'll
be discussing the activities that we'll be having and the names for these
activities.  This meeting will determine what is going into the September
Mews.  I'd like this to be a thorough flyer for the Mews, so for those of
you who have volunteered to be in charge of something, if you have an
activity or area that needs naming, please think of a couple to throw out to
us at the meeting and definitely have your
activities/competitions/tourneys/shoots figured out.

I still need volunteers for the following:
*Post-Feast Entertainment Coordinator - this person would be the one to keep
the entertainment hopping in the evening on Saturday night.  You don't have
to perform, but just suggest to folks that they should contribute.  ;)

*Atmosphere Facilitator - this person would be in charge of gently reminding
us to cover up our modern items in order to maintain the wonderful ambience
and atmosphere of the Stone Barn and it's land.  Not a difficult job and one
that is greatly appreciated by folks who seek that special magic that can
happen at the Stone Barn.

*Clean-Up Facilitator - this person would be in charge of finding clean up
volunteers.  Now, everyone _should_ be on the clean up crews...but I'd like
to have someone in charge to let folks know what areas need what attention
when we're all standing around wondering what to do next.  (it's a really
easy job....I've done this job many times.)

*Slum Lord - this person would help our arriving guests locate a good place
for their tents.  We'll want to keep the period pavilions closer to the Barn
and the modern tents more discreetly away from the Barn to enhance the
atmosphere.  It's a nice way to meet people and to help make a big
difference in the look of the event.

*Auction Coordinator - this person will coordinate the collection of auction
goods and the auction itself.  This is a big money maker for the barony and
we appreciate the efforts of the Auction Coordinator a great deal!

There were a few folks that were not at the meeting last night who have
already volunteered for heading up an area or activity.  These are:
Uluric - Archery
Bran - A&S
Mikhail - Feast (I know, I know...I live with the guy, but I like to give
him a hard time about skipping Moot.  ;)   )
Troll - Theron (who is in Paris, *sigh*)

I will be contacting these folks shortly and bringing them up to speed.

Lastly, I'm looking for artisans who would be willing to make and donate a
prize.  We'll need lots of prizes and the ones made by our own hands are
always the ones that are treasured most by the recipients.  If you'd like to
make a prize, please let me know.  Thank you to Karl and Thedrich for
already volunteering to make a prize.
