 In 'Nam "Air America" was a group of volunteers that ran food and
medical supplies (and boxes of "tractor parts"... for the uninformed
that means weapons) to various parts of the country. It was a CIA op to
provide materials (and training?) to allied indigenous troops.

 See the movie by the same name for one person's look at their
operation. :)
