Camping at Lilies War with the Company of Travelers
The Company of Travelers once again invites anyone interested in a more
Medieval atmosphere to camp with them at this Lilies War behind the Staff
Parking lot. The Company of Travelers is an informal Calontir group
supporting attempts to be more Medieval in any aspect, ranging from
accoutrement to persona interaction. The camping area is intended to
enhance the Medieval experience by keeping blatantly modern things out of
sight.
So, what does this mean, really? First, it means we have a nice area, away
from cars, but not too far from activities, for those interested in having a
more Medieval campsite. We are not one group, or camp, but several separate
encampments sharing the same large area. If you camp with us, you needn't
sacrifice your own encampment's theme. We have lots of space! On the other
hand, if you don't have a lot of your own equipment and would just like to
'try it out', so to speak, we are more than willing to help and share. We
encourage trying a variety of 'period' activities. From persona
interaction, (which at it's most basic, is simply not talking of modern
things,) to cooking over an open fire or baking in a wood fired oven.
The guidelines are pretty simple:
1.) To protect the medieval visual aspect, cars will only be allowed in
between the hours of 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. in the morning, and between 3 p.m.
and 4 p.m. in the afternoon. If you drive in during these times, please
unload quickly, and then go park your car. Set up afterwards. If you
arrive or depart at other times you will need to carry your things to your
campsite or car. Ask for help, we're a friendly bunch! This schedule
applies from Saturday, June 13th, through Saturday, June 20th.
2.) All modern things should be kept out of the general view. No one is
going to inspect your camp to see that you have only period equipment, and
we certainly don't require it. But if it can be seen by a casual passer-by,
then please hide it in some way. If you need it and it's very modern
(cooking equipment, for example,) keep it hidden until you need it, take it
out, use it, then put it back into hiding. Tents, furniture, and other large
equipment should be of a period nature. *No modern tents or shade flies
please.*
3) Due to several people with severe allergic reactions, we ask that this be
kept a non-smoking area.
That's it!
This is certainly not the only period encampment at Lilies War, but if you
want to try it, and are not otherwise committed, please join us!
