One idea I have used to make an adjustable height monitor stand (instead
of buying some ugly
generic Office Depo stand):
Order a piece of plate glass at least 3/8" thick from a local glass
company.
The length and dimensions will be up to you.
For the legs (supports)...but 4 drinking glasses from your favorite
glassware place.
CostPlus has a great(cheap)selection.
The tallness of the glasses will be the height of your platform.
Invert the glasses on your desktop at four support points.
Use a few of those self-adhesive silicone dots from a hardware store to
stick on the top of the glasses
(or not, I like them to stop earthquake rattle).
Then place your plate glass on top of these glasses(which used to be the
bottom of the glasses).
Now you have a designer computer stand for your monitor/monitors...and
perhaps a nice glass shelf if you factored one in.

Subject: monitor height?
I am experiencing some neck pain that I suspect may be related to my
monitor height. With my monitor where it currently sits, I am looking
slightly up at it.
So I was wondering, where do you folks have your monitor set, with
regard to your eye level? According to those ergonomic diagrams, the top
of your monitor should be at eye level. My eyes currently hit about 1/4
of the way from the top.
(Have we already talked about this on the list?)
Thanks.
