I'll organize something.

For example, we have these two binders that we take with us if there is a
fire/emergency (see below). The white one is for all emergencies (fire,
bomb, tornado, active shooter, etc.), the red one is a recovery plan if
something happens. The red binder is amended every year, and each
department has a chapter of: A.) what the priority items are (aka types),
b.) where they are in the collection and c.) what special recovery
procedures and safety issues need to be implemented for your specific
departments (formalin for herps, rusty pins or glass from broken drawers
for us). All curators and collection managers have to do a walk-through of
each other's departments so we know where everything is and high priority
areas are marked in RED. We also have the fire department do a
walk-through of all of our collections so they know what to rescue first
in each space. We also go through recovery training every few years where
we actually deal with recovering objects and triage.

I can do a talk highlighting the big parts of these documents (the red
binder is 416 pages!). Our philosophy is prevention is what we can offer;
we will be hit by a tornado eventually just based on statistics, so we
want to plan ahead as much as we can and prepare as best as we can.

Katrina
