Dear Cather Community:

I'm pleased to announce that today is the day when The Complete Letters of Willa Cather begins publication at cather.unl.edu/letters<http://cather.unl.edu/letters>. I hope you'll take some time to read, search, explore, and enjoy the publication.

The edition begins with 428 letters, and we will add more letters regularly with the goal of reaching 1,500 letters by the fall. Our current plan will bring the Complete Letters to "completion"--with all 3,074 known Cather letters--by 2021.

As you'll notice, each letter is fully transcribed and annotated, and images of the original documents are present for each. Our process for each letter is detailed and ambitious (if you're interested, you can read about this process in our Introduction<https://cather.unl.edu/letters/about>), and I hope and believe that the wealth of information that accompanies each letter will be meaningful to you and your work.

Importantly, we have made these hundreds of documents searchable and browsable in a variety of ways. The great staff of the Center for Digital Research in the Humanities<http://cdrh.unl.edu> at UNL is responsible for the sophisticated, helpful, and attractive design of these features. Thanks, CDRH!

This edition is a large team project, and I want to give thanks to all of those involved with its creation: Melissa Homestead, Kari Ronning, Janis Stout, Emily Rau, Gabi Kirilloff, Jessica Tebo, Caterina Bernardini, Karin Dalziel, Jessica Dussault, Greg Tunink, Lori Nevole, Emma Himes, and Samantha Greenfield. Please read our Credits and Acknowledgements<https://cather.unl.edu/letters/about_credits> for more information about this terrific team.

Please let us know what you think. We always like to hear from you.
