For what it's worth, my Cather/Trees Concordance Blog, packed with human error, is finished. I thought I'd share some observations from it. In her novels, Cather refers to over 50 species of trees with the cottonwood (no surprise there) mentioned most. The novel with the most tree references is Death Comes for the Archbishop. The one with the least, My Mortal Enemy. Below is a list of the novels with the number of tree references and the tree referenced most in each novel.
This has been an enjoyable labor of love for me, and my hope is that some out there in their Cather studies may find it and make use of it.
If any of you see how this study can take another step of some sort, I'd most certainly leap at the chance to be involved.
