I heartily agree with the other replies on not making a lot of money.
I've found that, in order to get the natural science jobs, I've had to
do a variety of other work as well, which isn't a bad thing at all. I do
quite a variety of work for a zoo, everything from designing ads to
species illustrations. I used to do work for a bird sanctuary, and in
exchange for the fun of illustrating waterfowl, I had to draw backhoes,
pond drains, and dump trucks (not very well, but it DID look like
backhoes & dumptrucks!). The more versatile you are, the better your
chance of making reasonable wages, and getting to do the things you like
best.
