Intensive six day tutorials will be offered again this summer to students at
all levels of accomplishment, with basic drawing as prerequisite, covering
all aspects of the traditional art of botanical drawing.  Using live plant
materials as subject matter, instructional focus will include composition,
observational skills and sketch development.  The student will be encouraged
to practice the skills and discipline required to produce drawings combining
scientific precision and artistic beauty.  Participation is limited to eight
students each session with emphasis on developing individual abilities.

The classes are held at the tutor's barn studio adjoining her home on
McHeard's Cove, Blue Hill Bay, in the lovely old coastal village of East Blue
Hill, ME, near Acadia National Park.  The Penobscot Peninsula, an area of
unspoiled natural beauty, is a peaceful place of inspiration to the artist.
 Experience the fragrance of pine;  abundant wildlife;  the many moods of the
sea;  rolling curtains of fog;  the very special quality of light;  glorious
flowering plants whose petals, caressed by moist sea air, are coaxed into
stunning vibrancy;  and myriads of stars that fill the inky night skies.

Linda Funk is an artist with 23 years experience in design and illustration.
 Specializing in pencil, drybrush watercolour, and metalpointe, she tutors
private students and teaches at the NY Botanical Garden, Farnsworth Museum of
Art, and College of the Atlantic.  Her work is exhibited widely and appears
in many publications.  A collections of Ms. Funk's furnishing fabrics will be
introduced this fall by Jack Lenor Larsen, NY.  Her work is included in the
Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, Pittsburgh, and the Shirley
Sherwood International Collection.  The artist has shown at Ursus Prints, NY;
 The PA Horticultural Society;  Longwood Gardens;  The Bartlett Arboretum and
The Denver Botanic Garden, to name a few venues.  During 1998, her work will
be shown in a traveling exhibition of contemporary American silverpoints.
