Dear Aline and Sci-Arters:

Greetings. Just finished a multi-media class this summer with Director as
the central theme. I have a PC at home and began learning on a MAC at
school. I do not yet have my copy of Director, though the funding is
almost cleared for it, and I'am bogged down in what I hope is the last
hurrah of my thesis. I did learn that what Britt said is absolutely true.
You must buy or otherwise arrange to use both versions. They are not cross
platform. I am under the impression that the pieces can be pulled into
either version to make a finished product. Certainly individual sprites
can be imported from Photoshop, Freehand, etc. so I would not anticipated
problems at that level.

Macromedia told me that a project that took a few months to create in one
platform would probably be finishable in a few days in the other. They
also said this of course depends on how many pieces were involved.
I have been told that minimally the education version of Director, by
itself, as opposed to the suite, (with 3-D extreme, etc., which for the
past few months was the only way one could buy it), will be on sale this
fall and sold alone, but I haven't had a chance to check that out. Hope
this helps.
