PLEASE JOIN US for a Botanical Illustration Workshop in Belize, Central
America.

MEDICINAL AND FLOWERING PLANTS OF THE RAIN FOREST with scientific
illustrators Beverly Benner and Eileen Rosen; organized by Steppingstone
Environmental Education Tours. As in our three previous workshops, we will
be joined by Mayan shaman Susanno Blanco who will share with us his knowledge
of medicinal and useful plants of the rain forest.

This workshop is part of "Illustrations for the World ~ a Traveling
Conservation Project." Illustrations developed during this workshop can be
duplicated and donated for use in environmental education in Belize. Our
host, Programme for Belize, is a local conservation organization which
teaches Belizean and U.S. students about the rain forest.

LOCATION: The workshop is conducted at La Milpa Research Station in Rio
Bravo, a 240,000 acre rain forest preserve.

WORKSHOP MEDIUM:  Colored pencil.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS WORKSHOP? Botanical and scientific illustrators;
students of botany, ethnobotany and related natural sciences; students of art
and scientific illustration, artists, educators, naturalists and anyone
interested in the documentation of plants through illustration. Level:
Advanced-beginner to advanced. This is not a "how to" drawing course;
participants should have some drawing skills.

WHAT'S INCLUDED? This workshop includes drawing techniques, botany review,
lectures on flora and fauna, guided daily and night excursions in the rain
forest, and time on your own. Interact with Belizean artists and Mr. Blanco
who participate in the workshop as our guests.
