I did contact the Strathmore paper representative from California, Jack
Wayman, to whom I made the infamous remark about 1-ply Bristol.
Wayman said to have no fear: 1-ply Bristol, 500 series, which more
accurately is called "Drawing Paper" by Strathmore, will not be
discontinued in the 23 x 29" size. Its numbers are 235-061
(regular/medium/vellum finishes) and
235-071 (plate finish).
235 refers to 500 series, 06 to texture, 07 to plate, and 1 to 1-ply
(really no ply, which is why it is truly not Bristol).
However, the 30x40 size of 1-ply and 3-ply probably will be discontinued
because few people use the bigger size. All thicknesses over 3-ply
probably will be discontinued. If I remember correctly, he said there is a
big demand in New York for the 30x40 size of 2-ply, so it will continue to
be made.
I hope I have made amends for my inappropriate remarks for which many of
you would have incarcerated me.
