Regarding insurance for artwork, Huntington T. Block in Washington, D.C.
used to specialize in insuring art work. I used them to insure the art
work and manuscript for the original Guild Handbook. The last bill I had
was $460.00 annual fee for $15,000 of coverage with a $250.00 deductible -
but that was in 1989! Their current phone number is 1-800-424-8830, D.C.
number: 202-223-0673. I don't know whether they offer other types of
insurance. I believe they are national in scope; they have some
affiliation with Lloyd's of London.
As mentioned by Lynette Cook, Artist's Equity offers all sorts of insurance
for artists. Their membership still is about $40.00 annually, I believe.
[I'm a member, if only to support their lobbying efforts for artists.]
Their number is in the Guild Handbook, 202-628-9633
[By the way, totally unrelated to insurance - except that my car is insured
- if you see an ancient navy blue Toyota Tercel wagon tootling around the
country with an Oregon tag that says SCI ART, it's me. Hope that name is
not copyrighted.]
