Hmmmm. Interesting, Karen. We've been using two Microteks here at the
museum, bought roughly two years apart, and have never had a day of
downtime. In between purchases, the company upgraded the scanner applet to
a newer ScanWizard style which has worked just fine for us. The operating
system here is 7.5. Perhaps there are issues with System 8? Is there a
software upgrade that we should be looking for?
