Hello All,

I've recently been assigned the responsibility of publishing our Nature
Center's 20 page, quarterly newsletter.  My responsiblities include doing
illustrations, design and layout, and getting it printed.  My supervisor is
the editor.  My question has to do with people managing - How can I get my
fellow employees to submit their material to the newsletter on time?  My
supervisor sets deadlines for submission and almost nobody pays attention.  I
find it hard to design until I have all of the material, yet I don't get all
of the material until we have past our deadline.  Then I am under pressure to
get the thing out as quickly as possible which comprimises my ability to do a
good job.  For example, given a little time, I'll do small illustrations
relevant to the written material to fill space where needed. As it works now,
I have to use old art from previous newsletters due to the lack of time.  My
main gripe is that everybody else has several weeks to do their job, but I'm
only given two days at best to do mine.  I've talked to a few others who have
done this sort of thing and they say it is like that everywhere.  I can't
believe that - there must be a better way.
