Gary, I'm running 2 different computers & printers...

I run the 1520 from a beefed up PowerMac 7500. Here I use the Remote Only
AppleTalk setting.

I run the 3000 from a G3 (with USB-to-serial port adapter). This G3 is on
a
LAN using Ethernet, so I just leave it be and the 3000 runs fine. However,
the REMOTE ONLY AppleTalk extension comes with the Epson printer software;
you have to install it. Or I expect you can check Epson's web site and
download it from there. If you still have problems, give Epson a call.
They're usually fairly helpful in regard to working out problems.
