Call for Proposals: “The Mendelssohn Network” AMS Pre-Conference, 30-31
October 2019

The study group “The Mendelssohn Network” is now accepting proposals for
short presentations and performance-discussions for its second AMS
preconference on the afternoon of 30 October and the morning of 31 October
2019 in Boston. The focus will be on musical members of the Mendelssohn
family, especially Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Fanny Hensel (née
Mendelssohn) as well as any other topics of immediate relevance to the
Mendelssohns.

The first session, “‘In the Salon with the Mendelssohns’: Performances,
Readings and Discussions of 19th-century Music, Literature and Art,” will
take place on 30 October 2019 from 3-6pm at the New England Conservatory;
it is open to the general public. We welcome proposals for performances,
readings and short lecture-recitals. We are also planning a group
discussion of a literary work related to Mendelssohn studies.

For the second session, “‘Current Developments in Mendelssohn Research:
Lightning Talks, Presentations and Roundtable Discussions,” will be from
9am-12pm on 31 October 2019 in the AMS conference hotel. We particularly
welcome proposals for lightning talks (of no more than 15 minutes) and
roundtable discussions.

Please send your suggestions and abstracts (in no more than 350 words) to
mendelssohnnetwork -at- gmail.com by 10 September 2019. We will inform you
of the status of your proposal by 20 September 2019. Program information
will be made available at
