In this issue of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Listserv,
December 2, 2003:
1. UNSCRAP
2. Refresher Training Reminder
----------------------------------------------------------
1. UNSCRAP
Are you wanting to find a home for good, useable chemicals that you don't
have a need for? Or would you like to have free chemicals delivered to
your lab? Check out the University of Nebraska Surplus Chemical
Redistribution Assistance Program (UNSCRAP) at http://ehs.unl.edu/. Click
on Documents by Subject, then Waste Minimization to see all of the relevant
links to the UNSCRAP program.
2. Refresher Training Reminder
EHS provides several training courses that require refresher training.
These courses include Forklift Training (every three years), IATA Training
(shipment of hazardous materials/dangerous goods) (every two years),
Respirator Fit Test Training (annually), Asbestos Training (annual), Select
Agents Training (annual), Hearing Conservation Training (annual), and
Bloodborne Pathogens Training (annual). Employees should keep track of
when they are due for training or contact EHS to verify the need for
refresher training. Training courses are scheduled quarterly. For more
information on training schedules, view the EHS web site at
http://ehs.unl.edu/Training/index.cfm.
If unsure what training is needed, employees and supervisors should review
the Employee Training Needs Assessment on the EHS web site at
http://ehs.unl.edu/Pamphlets/EmployeeTrainingNeedsAssessment.pdf.
