Hi Matt,
I've never been there, so cannot give advice on local conditions and permits etc., but there is a fairly recent beetle list:
Gomy Y. 2000. Nouvelle liste chronologique des Coleopteres de l'Archipel des Mascareignes. Société réunionnaise des Amis du Muséum, Saint-Denis.
I think Gomy is on Reunion and should be a contact person.
I attach a paper we recently published on the arthropod fauna of Mauritius (references contain some papers relating to Reunion), and we are preparing a online beetle catalogue of Mauritius (the first batch of species might be online next week) which might be useful.
Well, Nesosisyphus has never been found on Reunion. Be the first! We are preparing a paper on Nesosisyphus (baits etc.), but it is too early to post results to the list. You might contact me personally.
Cheers
Frank

Subject: advice for "La Réunion" collecting trip needed
dear colleagues
I am planning to do a collecting trip to "La Réunion" next year.
Can anyone give me some tips like
- when to go (would end of April be good?)
- local entomologists
- needed permits
- what species of Scarabs I could expect (and main collecting
techniques for them)
- adresses of other entomologists not on the list I could ask
any advice will be highly appreciated
cheers
Matt
