Greetings everyone! As your list mom, I need to let you know about a couple
of things.

If by some remote chance you stop receiving any mail from the Sciart-l
listserv, there is a possibility that you have been deleted from the list.
BUT DON"T PANIC! This only happens if the server here has had REPEATED
trouble getting the messages to you for some reason like a system is out at
your end or along the way. By repeated I mean after errors and
undeliverable mail messages have been sent back to me for several weeks.
RARELY do I delete someone from the list. Usually, if the system has not
been able to deliver a message for quite awhile or it continues to find
errors in trying to deliver the message, it will automatically delete you
from the listserv.

SOOOO if you stop getting messages from the list, email me so I can check
to see if you are still connected to it. If the list has trouble delivering
messages to you, chances are that you will know you are having trouble with
your email account or service provider and probably won't be getting other
messages either. SOOOO let me know if you are having troubles with this

I also wanted you all to know that we did survive the October blizzard here
in Nebraska last week. We got only 13 inches of heavy wet snow which
usually isn't too bad. The bad part was we hadn't had a freeze yet so all
the trees still had all of their beautiful green leaves on and in
combination with the very heavy snow in an overnight storm, many, many
trees went down. Consequently the cities of Omaha and Lincoln and all
surrounding areas lost power because of massive tree and transformer and
power line damage. It looks like a hurricane went through or a tornado hit
the whole area all at once. It has been really sad to see all of these
beautiful trees literally crushed. The National Guard was even called out
and put to work to open streets and help in the clean up! And schools were
closed...which just never happens here for any amount of snow!

Personally, we didn't have power for 4 days. Other people were without
power for much longer. This wouldn't have been too bad except we have no
other heat except electric and our house got down to a toasty 41 degrees.
Outside temperatures were in the high single 8 or 9 degrees. we moved in with my brother. The sad part was we lost significant
parts of our 4 shade trees and we may have lost one tree entirely. Some of
our bushes were also crushed by the snow and the fallen branches. So this
past week, we as well as everyone in the area, have become experts in
sawing and pruning trees and hauling limbs to the dropoff places for the
city to mulch it. So if any of you need firewood or mulch, Nebraska is the
place to get it and it is free for the taking!

I know Nebraska doesn't usually make the national news except for football
but I know this was mentioned so I thought I would let you all know what
REALLY happened. And yes, we do have other things going on here besides

Till Later,
Your list mom,
