        A guide book with good photos for birds is BIRDS: A PHOTOGRAPHIC
GUIDE TO THE BIRDS OF PENINSULAR MALAYSIA AND SINGAPORE by Morten Strange
and Allen Jeyarajasingam, published in 1993 by Sun Tree Publishing in
Singapore, so it might be available over there.  Of the 638 species of
birds that occur there, about half are figured but there is a complete
checklist at the back.  Boy am I envious of your trip -  have a great one!
