David,
I completely agree! I think too often we get caught up in the business
aspect of our work and forget that some people are curious and excited
about what we do! I would have LOVED to have been able to talk to the
people on this list when I was first deciding on a career and beginning my
career in scientific illustration! Geez, I wouldn't have gotten a geology
degree, I would have gone straight into Scientific Illustration! And Oh, I
wouldn't have made some of the silly mistakes I did along the way!

I think people NEED resources like this list and GNSI!I know I still do! I
think everyone's postings to this list deserves a reply too! I look at the
scientific illustrators that I know from this list, and the classes that I
have taken from GNSI, the mentors that I have happened upon in this
organization and count myself as VERY LUCKY! These illustrators are iching
to know, learn, experiment, and ask.....thats why we developed the list to
begin with! Besides....I know of a LOT of students that are subscribed to
this list and use it as a resource ALL THE TIME!!They may be "lurkers" and
too timid to post, but they certainly are welcome to ask all the questions
they want from ME!

I would really hate to see the open nature of this group squelched! I mean,
if you don't have time to reply...or you aren't interesting in
replying...maybe someone else is? Thanks for posting the questions to the
list Lynne.....
I hope we get some answers!

CHeers from the hot and sunny state of South Carolina!
