Dear all,

I want to introduce myself.

Since half February I am a member of GNSI and Britt was wonderful in helping
me with adding my portfolio to the science-art website.

I am Mieke Roth, 36, living in the Netherlands and since half a year I am
working fulltime as an illustrator for some scientific and technical
magazines here. My background is Animal science at the Wageningen
University, but I have been working as an Information Architect at a large
bank for the last few years. Illustration has been a serious part of my live
for the last 20 years and I am very happy that I now have the opportunity to
pursue a carrier in it.

You can see some examples of my work on www.nowhow.nl

And I immediately want to barge in with a question: I am working on a plan
for a research position (I don't know if this is the way to describe it in
English, but on the end I will have a PhD., if everything goes as planned of
course) on one of our universities. The subject will be something in the
line of the history of scientific illustration and work methods used, but I
am also expected to use my own work in this project. It is a 4 year project
on wich I will be working 40 hours a week from next September.
Does anyone of you have experience on this terrain and can you help me with
ideas and suggestions? Scientific illustration, and especially nature
illustration, is not nearly as big in the Netherlands as it is in the USA,
so I expect that you could learn me a lot.

Kind regards and thanks in advance!
