Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with or seen printouts from
the new ALPS printer?

Apparently the printer prints up to 600x1200 dpi and uses a ribbon
technology. Supposedly the printer does not require premium paper as many
high res inkjets do. And the ink is supposed to be more lightfast. I could
not find pricing info, nor pricing on the ribbon cartridges.

The printer is only available in 8.5x11.

If anyone is interested, I've seen the Epson 1500 printer (which prints up
to 13.5x20) listed at $499. An extra $120 will get you PostScript drivers.
Looks like a pretty good deal to me. Saw this price in MacMall or MacZone
(don't remember which)... but MacWarehouse agreed to this price as well.
Thought this might of interest to some of you.
