     >Britt and Erik hit the nail on the head. As director of the
illustration program here at ISU I am interested in ideas/issues
related to illustration, but I was not interested in personal
conversations being exchanged through SCIART. The volume of the latter
type of message simply became too large and I found myself deleting
most SCIART messages. The cost benefit ratio became too high, sorting
through the chaff for the wheat.

     >Ditto. Too much volume; too little information. Except I can't get
off -being held hostage on SCIART!!

     >Unlist Me!!!!!
     Remove Me!!!
     This is clogging up cyberspace!

I think that more and more people will be dropping out of this list if
only a few of us are going to continue their bad habit of posting
simple "thank you" messages (or even multiple, one after another,
short trivial/personal remarks), to the entire list, instead to just
the individual to whom they intend to reply.

How about that instead of posting three, four even five messages one
after another, you combine them all in one single posting like this?

     Thanks Gail

     Cindy: Great idea!

Frank: We might have to string you up by your bathing suit.

Norm: My olive oil no longer needs to be extra-virgin.

Jaynie: My car seats also stuck to my but on a hot summer day...

(by the way, I love these periods of friendly/humorous exchanges :)

     etc.
     etc.
     etc.
     .
