        Isn't that a motorola  clone?  I just had a similar kind of situation and
there is a trick to starting from the CD.  To start from the CD, wait until
you hear the startup tone and THEN hold down the "C" key.  On the motorolas,
if you hold down the "C" key like you would to boot up on a regular Mac, it is
perceived as an error and the computer won't do anything, hence the waiting
after the tone to press the key.  Try that and see if it helps.
