Hi everyone,,
I have arranged for a guided tour of the "Stubbs and the Horse" exhibit at
the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, MD on Friday April 22, 2005 at 11:00AM.
I would like to invite anyone on the list that is interested to join us on
this tour.
The British artist George Stubbs (1724-1806) was the greatest painter of
horses in the history of art. Although Stubbs treated a variety of subjects,
this exhibition will focus on the work for which he is most celebrated --
his sophisticated and deeply beautiful depictions of horses. Stubbs was an
artist-scientist who has been compared to Leonardo da Vinci. The exhibition
includes some 40 major paintings, 35 drawings (most of which are anatomical
drawings), and three copies of The Anatomy of the Horse, a rare book by
Stubbs.
For more information on the exhibit please visit the website:
http://www.thewalters.org/html/home.asp
Please contact me if you are interested in joining us. There is room for
20 attendees. The admission is $7.00 per person (reduced admission from
$10.00 per person).
I will try and arrange to carpool and I am hoping we can have lunch together
after the tour.
Thanks
Marie
