I understand. The company I work with was originally a graphics
company that did my typesetting. Very small and easy to work with.
Speak my "illustrator language", unlike the larger and more expensive
photography studio/lab I have also used for images. More fine art, I guess.

Perhaps I need to search around again and see if I can find some other
local options that I didn't find before. The company I used that does
the large files has set prices and doesn't seem all that interested in
being accommodating. They are very proud of saying that their files
are "real data" with no interpolation, and this seems to be their main
selling point. But I still had to do a lot of processing - mainly
color correction. One thing I've noticed here - don't know if it's
happening everywhere - is that there is lots of turnover with the
companies who do both film and digital photography. Seems there's
always another one springing up or going under.
