Do you know if there are differences in "Arial" between different publishers of fonts?  For instance, I have several ESRI fonts that are probably unusual and perhaps different than Microsoft Arial's?  If there are differences, I wonder if there's a way to see what the source file for a font is?  I'm not sure how to see in a PC what the active font is.

That is a shame, if they got rid of that option, especially since software prices go up and we get less for our money!  Illustrator CS5 costs $199 for a student version, versus CS2 for $99 a few years ago!

My friend knew mostly of the option in InDesign, so I'm sure this is what you're talking about.

I'm surprised when you save, if you say 'embed fonts' what is it really doing?  As Illustrator says it doesn't seem to help unless the receiving computer has the font stored.

I believe Illustrator does not have a built-in ability to "Collect for Output"  There are add-ons
you can buy to do it.

It may have been possible in long ago earlier versions. But in their zeal to protect ther font
material, some of that may have disappeared.

InDesign has a "Collect for output" option.

Ariel usually comes with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Is Ariel active in your font list? You can use the Macs Font Book program to active it is it is there.
