Announcing my annual workshop across thru Antigua, Guatemala and the 
highlands. My addition into the spring 2011 roster was a last minute 
opportunity, but just as the time frame fit perfectly into my teaching

Botanical Arts Workshop/Retreat
Antigua, Guatemala (a UNESCO World Heritage Site)
(10) Days. Mar 31 - Apr 9, 2011 

Botanical arts/natural science illustration combines science and art by 
recording the natural world accurately and artistically. Join artists, educators, 
nature enthusiasts sketching and painting in tropical landscapes, colorful 
markets, a coffee finca (farm), private courtyard gardens and ancient 
structures in the ‘land of eternal spring.’ 

Days begin with intro of materials/demo of technique. Pastel (including the 
new pan Pastel), pencil, pen, acrylic (including the new ‘open’ acrylic), colored 
pencil, gouache, watercolor, watercolor crayon, watercolor pencil. 

Guatemala provides the perfect conditions for such varied artistic immersion. 
8,000 species of plants in 19 different ecosystems ranging from mangrove 
forests to cloud forests. The national flower, 'monja blanca'  (white nun 
orchid) among 600 species of orchids. 

We'll also head into the highlands where volcanoes rise out of early morning 
mist, to beautiful Lake Atitlan for 3 days.
