Join us for a presentation on the life of one of the world's best
known illustrators.

April 19th:
Beatrix Potter, a Life
Smithsonian NMNH, Cathy Kerby Room, East Wing, Third Floor 5:30pm - 8:00pm
MEET IN THE CONSTITUTION AVE. LOBBY

All are invited to hear Marie Metz's personal historical overview of
the life, art, and legacies of Helen Beatrix Potter (1866-1943).
Come meet in this presentation one of the most cherished scientists,
scientific illustrators, and children's authors known to the world.
Begin to understand her childhood, ambitions, failures, and
successes. Through her story you may see yourself and your talents,
better understanding your own potential, and capabilities while
realizing the possibility of your own legacies which can be given to
others through your individual art.

J. Marie Metz is a scientific illustrator at the USDA/Washington,
D.C.NMNH Smithsonian Institution in the department of Systematics
Entomology.  She had previously worked as a scientific illustrator at
The University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign and as an instructor in
the Department of Art and Education at Lincoln Land Community College
in Springfield IL.
