3. I've encountered this problem a few times as well with Photoshop CS4. I don't have an answer to this, so I just save it under a new name like x_1.jpg, delete x.jpg, and then rename x_1.jpg as x.jpg. I'd love to know the solution to this one too.
2. With the line tool, this should be a vector layer, but no matter, you can use the fx blending options (in particular, color overlay) to change the color of your line on the fly. The fx button is located on the Layers Palette.
1. Have you tried to turn off the arrow options? Haven't encountered this one before. Perhaps a bit more info is needed.

I keep changing it under the Line tool, and it changes back to some default arrow with certain parameters, and no matter what i do, every time I open the line tool, there's my arrow. I can change it but I can't save it in the form I want (a simple line).

> 3) When I work on certain images and go to save them at the end of my work, I get the message "Could not save 'x.jpg' because the file is already in use or was left open." This particular one is driving me crazy, as now I have to save the file to an alternative name after I've worked on it! This only happens with 10 or 20% of the images, and so far I can't figure out what makes them different!
