Dear SciArt Listserv Folk,
I am writing in response to the very recent post on scanned birth
certificates.
This is a professional list serv created to provide community
support for natural science illustrators, educators, natural science
artists, scientists, students, and so on.
As stated in the past, tangential content that supports the
community, such as concerns for members in the face of natural
disaster, is appropriate. We are a professional organization that
works well because we also view each other as colleagues and treat
each other with compassion and respect.
Tangential comments that are not really designed to support the
community of members, such as politically motivated postings, are not
appropriate and are a detriment both to the professionalism and to
the community spirit of this group. Indeed, it is possible that some
of the postings are tongue-in-cheek, yet that does not translate well
in this venue. Misunderstandings are not worth the posting.
Please count to ten and then delete something before sending that in
fact may have little redeeming value to the cameraderie of the
discussions here. This is your own professional persona you are
projecting here as well, please remember. This venue ought not to be
an arena for political sniping and wars of opinion.
Thank you for your consideration of my thoughts.
Most sincerely,
Sara
