Hi Everyone,
Here's the article I was referring to about an artist survey. It comes from
the CA Lawyers for the Arts Newsletter.
Lynette
---------------------------------------
A new study of more than 2200 artists in four cities by the Research Center
for Arts and Culture at the Columbia University School of the Arts reveals
that artists are highly educated, with more than 38-43% holding graduate
detgrees, but 60% of artists earn less than $7000 from their art. Artists
are active in their communities: while more than 89% voted during the last
two years, 65% volunteered and 50% performed community service.
Statistics about artists' community involvement, health coverage, income and
education, as well as their legal, real estate and financial needs, have
been analyzed in this series of reports, called "Information on Artists--II"
by Joan Jeffri of the Research Center. Artists of all disciplines were
surveyed in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and St. Paul/Minneappolis.
