In addition to all the wonderful suggestions already mentioned. I
have plants here that 'do' something - carnivorous plants, sensitive
plant (Mimosa pudica).
Three year olds are very bright, mainly sensorial, and love to move
and have fun. : ) When I teach little ones about plants one of the
games I play is to show them a seed, ask them if they can scrunch
themselves up small like that seed, and then slowly, slowly, slowly
stretch up and up, growing like a plant, reaching for the sun. Talk
about how wonderful the sun is, how all plants are different, and how
each one of them (the children) are beautiful and perfect just the
way they are. : )
