For a real smooth curved lne in Photoshop I hold down the option key and
click. It creates a series of tiny straight lines which make a great
smooth curve. Alternatively, I put a white cotton photographers glove on
my drawing hand with the fingers cut out. It means I can draw from the
elbow and let my wrist slide better on the tablet top. I learned this
trick for drawing plant stems a long time ago in the stone age. Maybe
you should be using Illustrator if you really want mechanical curves,
the import into Photoshop for adding more hand-looking work.

I just got mine last September so I'm learning too.
