This month, our feature focuses on the radically redesigned first year mathematics program and the open-source online homework system that helps make it possible. Nathan Wakefield, Director of First Year Mathematics, describes the changes that led from a 62-67% success rate to the now 80% success rate. http://go.unl.edu/hkpx

Additionally, although the Canvas LMS pilot has been completed, faculty remain encouraged to learn more about the system and try it for themselves. Sessions will be held on both city and east campuses. Get the details. http://go.unl.edu/gx8p

Finally, for those of you who teach online, or who are considering doing so, the annual Summer Institute of Online Teaching (SIOT) has opened registration. The program runs from May 11 to June 15 and provides preparation and training and in the fundamentals of online teaching and technology. http://go.unl.edu/du85
