I didn't know whether I should send an email about this. There are many
emotions afloat. I am fearful and angry and mostly shocked. Sorrow seems to
be overwhelmed by that shock. I am angry at the perpetrators, but also the
people around the world celebrating the death of tens of thousands of
innocents. I am fearful of the consequences of that anger and the anger of
my country.  I am fearful for the safety of innocent Palestinians and other
Muslims who will be victimized by that anger. I am fearful of the very real
and very proximate worldwide economic consequences and the resulting pain,
fear, starvation and war that would follow from those consequences. I am
fearful of those everywhere who would exploit this tragedy to further
political and ideological aims. It's unlikely, but just possible this could
cause a war. Leadership is needed. I hope we get it.
