My G4 will be going into the shop. I must say that Apple came through for me
today. I hunted my AppleCare papers, only to discover I never activated my
AppleCare plan as I should have (oops). But I have my receipts and the
necessary numbers, so I faxed some things and they started the wheels in
motion. And they went ahead and transferred me to tech support (bless their
hearts). The tech agreed it would be the fan or a hard drive. He gave me the
name of a couple places where I can take it, one being MacAdam, where I
bought my 9600 some years back. So that's where it'll go.
I've also been having some modem troubles, although it might not be the
modem itself, and the tech said they could check that out too. And while my
G4 is there, I might as well get a SCSI card for it so I can attach the ZIP
and CD-ROM burner that live only on my 9600 (in preparation for the next
time my 9600 decides to give me a bomb message). I've been meaning to do
that. I can look at this as an opportunity to take care of necessary
business.
Right now I'm busy backing up important files from the G4 so I can get my
work done on my 9600 this weekend. . . good to have a secondary system. (I
just wish the old computer were speedier and had more disk space!).
