At Moot last night we managed to make some headway on
details for the upcoming community garage sale. We
determined that it will be held at Bran's "estate".
Tentatively, the plan is to hold it on August 9 & 10. I
know there's a couple of you that wanted to have it earlier
in the year, but the Pennsic weekend seemed to work out best
for the majority. Those who won't be present during that
time but would still like to have items in the sale can
arrange to have someone take care of their items for them.
We discussed the rules which are simple:
1. You must mark your own items with price and identifying
2. You must pay your portion of the classified ad. The
majority wants to see an ad placed in the Journal Star and
the Thrifty Nickel. The more people who participate, the
cheaper it is per person for the ad. If you have a big item
to sell, let me know at least 2 weeks in advance so we can
include it in the ad.
3. You must volunteer to take a shift at the sale (as
cashier, merchandiser, bouncer....). If you can't attend
the sale, please make arrangements with someone who will do
this for you. (It's been mentioned that some of the student
types might work for a bit of pocket change....)
4. At the end of the sale, you must pick up your items or
arrange for someone to do so for you. There will be no
leftovers left for Bran to deal with that do not belong to
him. Be nice to your host. :)
We'll want to use sunshades (hmmmm....wonder where we can
get those... ;) and someone mentioned balloons and flagged
rope to draw attention to the sale. We should get plenty of
Next week, I'll start taking a headcount of those of you who
want to participate in the sale. Be thinking of what you'd
like to weed out!
