The only complaint I have about these Hardware calibrators offered by
the Monitor manufacturers is that their software only addresses the
calibration of the monitor. For about the same price there are third
party systems that will calibrate your Monitor, Scanner and Printer.
the only benefit the Monitor only calibrators have is that the
software that comes with them interacts directly with the hardware of
the monitor to maximize the color correction AND the Brightness of
the monitor. Third Party products can not do that and therefor must
sacrifice some of the brightness to color match, thus reducing the
range of accurate matching. But I doubt your eye could tell the
difference, with detailed side by side comparison.
So there is a trade off decision to be mad when spending money for calibration.
