OK, i know some of you naturalists out there can
answer this: isn't there a term for animals which
change their activity from nocturnal to diurnal (or
vice versa) in adapatation to some change in the
environment? for instance, the deer in the urban-wild
interface neighborhood where i live are not at all
completely nocturnal - they'll come wandering down the
street at any hour, ready to pick every single flower
from the delphiniums i foolishly thought we could try.
we had a skunk stroll across the driveway mid-day this
weekend too, although i don't know for sure if they're
usually mostly nocturnal. is there really a term for
this or is it something i made up?!
thanks (and just so you know, those motion-detector
sprinklers really keep the deer at bay..!)
