After about a month of intermittent problems my Apple 17" Studio Display
has finally quit. I called a local service center but they told me it
wasn't worth repairing. I tend to feel the same way, its had a pretty
hard time with 3 car trips back and forth across the country in just a
couple of years. What a shame. It was such a pretty thing.
For a replacement, I am leaning towards the LaCie 19" electron blue.
However I did search the Sci-art list archives and found some
info/recommendations for an NEC model. My questions are...is there a
current brand and or model that someone might recommend instead of the
The LaCie generation IV advertises a "superbright mode" that is supposedly
ideal for video production and gaming. Which in my mind raises the
question...how does "superbright mode" affect the color display?
I also assume that the term "mode" means that it can be toggled on and off.
Does anyone know of a good online comparison of graphics quality monitors?
And yes, unfortunately budget will be a determining factor.
